A different perspective to animating walks

Walk! A tutorial about walks - April Peter
Today, I came across an article and a blog post about animating walks.  The first one is by April Peter, which is - Walk! A tutorial about walks and another one from Doron Meir's blog called Say No to walk cycles.

Say No to walk cycles - Doron Meir
Although I have thought about animating walks the way April explains it, which is interesting, time hasn't come when I have tried this method.  The way I work is, thumbnail, shoot reference and then start posing the character, keep adding breakdowns and inbetweens, all during the blocking stage, then spline it and continue fixing the animation till its time up.

I wonder how it works when a character is carrying a prop, like a stool.  I would need the legs in pose to take care that they do not penetrate the stool, than first animating the body and prop and then spend time putting in the feet animation and taking care of the prop-feet penetration.  Must try this out.
